Highly advanced forms of therapeutic exercise, hitherto completely unknown in the Western world, have long been practised in China. But more than just a pattern of exercises. Kung Fu is an integral part of Chinese medicine today. The Chinese believe most sickness is the result of internal weakness: a weakness, they claim, that can be eliminated by exercises which strengthen all parts of the body-internal organs, nerves, joints, ligaments and blood vessels-not the muscles alone as do Western methods of exercise.
Michael Minick gives here a detailed description of the Kung Fu system. Each exercise is illustrated and an explanation is given of how it is beneficial to the body.
