The Suzucho Karatedo school was introduced to Vietnam in 1940. Its founder was Professor Choji Suzuki, a master of the Takeno Uchi Ryu tradition in Nagasaki, Japan. He passed away more than ten years ago (February 6, 1995), after having laid a strong foundation for Karatedo and contributing significantly to the development of Vietnamese sports in general and Karatedo in particular.
The contributions of Suzucho Karatedo are of great value, embodying the spirit of “a bell whose resonance travels far — enriching knowledge, refining conduct, and helping others as a way of helping oneself.” This philosophy has guided generations of Karatedo practitioners in the past, present, and future. The numerous achievements attained at regional, continental, and world championships today stand as testament to that enduring legacy.
With deep devotion and responsibility within Suzucho Karatedo Vietnam, having been appointed by the Grand Master to serve as Chief Instructor for three consecutive terms — and encouraged by dedicated fellow practitioners — we have long wished to publish this collection in order to preserve and further develop the traditional culture of Suzucho Karatedo in Vietnam. Today, we humbly present this work to our readers as an expression of our lasting respect and remembrance for Professor Choji Suzuki.
Through the invaluable teachings he imparted, we hope that together we may continue to train, enrich our lives through the art, and strive toward Truth – Goodness – Beauty.
With this purpose in mind, we proudly introduce to readers the book series:
“Standardized Technical Curriculum – Suzucho Karatedo Ryu (Linh Truong Karatedo School)”
Volume One begins with fundamental content, including: “50 Tewaza techniques; Yen Kata I, II, III, IV,” followed by more advanced volumes.
This series has been published under the decision of the Grand Master of Suzucho Karatedo to meet the needs of more than forty thousand practitioners nationwide and ten overseas branches of Suzucho Karatedo Ryu during this period of national integration and development. It also constitutes one of the nine action programs adopted at the 14th National Congress (2007–2012 term) of Suzucho Karatedo Vietnam.
